Employability project

Smiling female studentWorkshops for all Level 1 and Level 2 Science students to improve your Employability.

Employability: 'A set of skills, knowledge and personal attributes that make an individual more likely to secure and be successful in their chosen occupation(s) ...'

In first and second year at University, graduation and employment seems a long way off. There seems to be plenty of time to have fun and get a degree before you need to think about getting a job. Graduate employers, though, have a different idea. They want to employ people with a good Degree who also have other skills.

"I thought my degree alone would have been good enough, but I was wrong"
- Glasgow University Science Graduate

New for 2008: 'Mahara' - PDP software allowing you to record your CV online, store documents, get feedback, and network with other students!

Do you want the right job?

To get the job that's right for you, you will need to convince a prospective employer that you have used your time at University to develop these kinds of skills. The Employability Project is here to help you:

  • Consider how the skills you are acquiring through your University courses and activities make you employable
  • Find further opportunities to develop new skills through Personal Development Planning (PDP)
  • Find out how to present yourself effectively to employers through CVs, interviews, and networking

We do this in an informal and enjoyable way, and taking part in our sessions could really improve your chances of finding a job you'll love.
