New Initiatives Fund
Next round of New Initiatives Fund now open! (closing date 20 December)
Each year the University is awarded funding to support the personal, professional and career development of its researchers. We have set aside a portion of this for activities that are planned and managed by researchers themselves.
If you have an idea for something that would be of benefit to Postgrad or Postdoc researchers - whether it's a training course, speaker, industry visit or networking event - get in touch and we'll let you know how the funding process works.
We really do want to make sure our training is valuable so please don't be shy. The only proviso is that we don't fund stuff that's directly relating to your research (e.g. conference attendance or a technical training course), the easy way to think about this is that anything we fund has to meet one of areas in C to G of the Joint Skills Statement.
Activities funded recently from the New Initiatives Fund include
- The highly successful PhD comics event (£1,100)
- The Education Researcher Development Network (£7000)
- PETS Public Engagement Programme (£13,000)
- Attendance at Student Enterprise Summit (£6)
