Adding audio to Moodle

This section covers everything that you need to know about recording basic audio with small portable devices and adding it to Moodle as an MP3 file.

It is possible to attend  an hour long audio workshops (please contact either Craig or David for further details). The workshop will include all aspects of recording using the voice recorders and show how to add the resultant MP3 files into Moodle.

Guide to recording and adding audio to Moodle

We also have a supply of voice recorders and microphones that can be borrowed from the centre for limited periods of time. If you would like to find out more, attend an audio workshop or borrow an digital recorder and microphone please contact either

Craig Brown or David Scotson

"After an introduction to MP3 recording by Craig Brown last session I have incorporated MP3 files into our on-line course in Marine Biology 7NF7 here in DACE in the Faculty of Education.  I am using this as an alternative for students to the pdf file of course notes that is also available.  Feedback on this resource has been positive.  One student who has severe dyslexia has commented that it has been extremely useful for learning.  Another student stated that it provided an extra dimension to learning and found that 'learning by listening' was more effective for types of information recall than other methods.

As a lecturer I have found the simple voice recorder easy to use and has also focused my mind about what is the essential information that students need to know each week."
