Teaching Excellence Awards
In 2005-06 the Senior Management Group of the University introduced Teaching Excellence Awards to recognise and celebrate members of staff whose teaching is of a particularly high standard
Four awards will normally be made for excellence in teaching and support for learning of any kind, whether undergraduate, postgraduate or post-experience. The scheme is intended to be flexible, in recognition of the wide range of teaching that takes place at Glasgow, and the different ways in which excellence may be recognised. All staff employed on University of Glasgow contracts that teach and/or support student learning at the University are eligible to be nominated for an award, either as individuals or groups of staff. Nominations can be put forward by any two, or more, members of the University regardless of whether they are staff or students.
Awards will be made at an appropriate graduation ceremony and will comprise a certificate and an honorarium of £2000 (payable through payroll and subject to tax). In addition, the work of award holders will be highlighted on the University Website, in the Newsletter, and in other promotional events and publications. In addition award holders will be asked to disseminate their work in partnership with the Learning and Teaching Centre, through an appropriate mechanism.
