International Bridging Programme for Masters in Law

You are welcome and encouraged to attend this 5-week course designed for overseas students, run in collaboration with the School of Law, to prepare you for the LLM. 

The combination of subject input and language practice will help you adapt to the style of learning and teaching in the University.

You will cover

  • Fundamental concepts and key vocabulary in the areas of
          Commercial Law
          International Law
          European and Competition Law
  • Extensive language practice, with tutorials
  • Strategies for reading legal texts and using them in seminars and essays
  • Library research skills
  • Writing an extended report on an aspect of Law
  • Seminar and presentation skills
  • Note-taking in lectures

Your performance is monitored throughout the course on class participation and assignments, your extended written report, and objective class tests. Your final report will testify your level of English language proficiency and readiness for study.

Suitable for

  • students with IELTS 7.0, and not less than 6.5 in any skill (5 week programme only)
  • students with IELTS 6.5, and not less than 6.0 in any skill (must attend the 10 week programme from 7th July – 12th September)

Course dates:   11th August to 12th September 2008

Course fee:       £1230 (a deposit of £600 is payable to ensure a place on the course)

If flights are delayed, latecomers will be accepted until Wednesday 13th August however there is no reduction in course fees.
