International Bridging Programme for Masters in Accounting & Finance

You are welcome and encouraged to attend this 5-week course designed for overseas students. It will prepare you for the Masters in Accounting and Finance, and bring your English up to an entry level equivalent to the required IELTS score. The combination of subject input and extensive academic language skills practice will help you adapt to the style of learning and teaching in the University.

You will cover:

• Fundamentals concepts and key vocabulary
• Extensive language practice, with tutorials
• Strategies for reading texts
• Note-taking in live lectures
• Library research skills
• Using sources in texts
• Writing four Accounting and Finance essays
• Seminar and presentation skills

You will be assessed throughout the course and on your essays, and you will sit an exit test. Your final report will certify your level of English language proficiency.

Suitable for students with IELTS 6.5, or IELTS 6.0 with not less than 6.0 in any skill.

It is expected that students will achieve a level equivalent to IELTS 6.5, or higher, by the end of the course.

Attendance may be a condition of offer, or you may be recommended to attend.

Course dates:  11 August to 12 September 2008

Course fee:      £1230 (a deposit of £600 is payable to ensure a place on the course)

If flights are delayed, latecomers will be accepted until Wednesday 13th August, however there is no reduction in course fees.
