Admissions Advice

Candidates whose dominant language is not English must produce proof of proficiency in the English language, achieved within two years prior to application*.

For all students this will normally be
1) British Council IELTS (minimum score 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any sub-skill);
2) iBT TOEFL (min 90 with not less than 20 in any sub-skill) or CB TOEFL (min 230 including TSE-A, min 50, and TWE, min 5) .
3) Alternative qualifications such as the Cambridge Advanced Certificate (Grade B minimum), or Cambridge Proficiency (Grade C minimum) will be accepted.

* Study of your first degree in the medium of English in a country where English is not the dominant language may mean that your English is not at a satisfactory level for academic study in the UK.  Please check detailed requirements when you apply.

Students may also achieve an equivalent level of language proficiency on a full time preparatory course in English and Study Skills in the University of Glasgow English as a Foreign language Unit .  The advantage of such study is familiarisation with the style of learning and teaching in the University

The length of study (10-40 weeks) will be determined by the amount of improvement required: see table below and Course Informationfor details.
