Common Student Computing Enviroment (CSCE)

The CSCE is a standard computer set-up introduced to make life easier for students. The idea is that wherever students are on the campus they should be able to find the same sort of programs and set-up. The CSCE tries to achieve both flexibility and consistency. Flexibility is provided by allowing each department to set up its computers as they wish, provided there is a clearly visible item somewhere on the screen that says Student Computing or CSCE. Consistency is provided by ensuring that when students select this item in any location they will find a familiar set of programs for common computing tasks.
