Compute cluster
Information Services provides a general purpose Compute Cluster as a resource for researchers within the University.
How to obtain Access
You should complete the registration form and return it to the Admin Front Desk, IT Services, James Watt North.
Who can use the cluster
The cluster is available for use by members of staff within the University to support their research. Postgraduate Students may also get an account if they have authorisation from their Head of Department or Supervisor.
What the cluster consists of
The Cluster runs Torque & Maui (see www.clusterresources.com) on Redhat Enterprise Linux 3. There are 60 execution nodes available each with dual opteron 248 processors and 2GB RAM.
Software available
In addition to the standard RedHat components (eg the GNU compilers - gcc, g++ g77 etc) we have installed MPI libraries(mpich 1.2.6) and blast (blast 2.2-10). There is also a mirror of some of the blast databases.
