Web Advisory Group

Role

One outcome of the University Information Strategy has been the establishment of the the Web Advisory Group (WAG) as a strategic and policy advisory group with the purpose of:

  1. reviewing proposed web/internet-related strategies across the full spectrum of information strategy and systems development,
  2. developing and providing advice (through ISDG and IPSC) to the Senior Management Team, University Court and AIMS about the relative priorities for, the costs and the technical implications of web/internet options for university operations,
  3. ensuring that effective user-consultation is undertaken in all web/internet development.

This version has been amended to address comments made during the consultation period and was then approved by the Information Policy and Startegy Committee at its meeting on 21st November 2005.

The WAG membership reflects the need for broad-ranging input to the development of the web within the Unversity:

Meetings

Meetings of the WAG take place when the volume, urgency or nature of the proposed business justifies them. It is expected that this will be at least three times per year, but business is likely to be conducted by both face-to-face meetings and other forms of communication between members, as appropriate.

The Convenor of the WAG may invite interested parties and/or people with appropriate expertise to attend particular meetings of the WAG as required.

The WAG may establish specific purpose, limited term reference groups where this assists the collection of stakeholder and or expert input for policy development, project assessment and implementation strategies.

The WAG may use what ever means may be appropriate to ensure that there is the opportunity for those involved in web activity in the University may contribute their ideas and be involved in consultation on developments.

Specific recommendations from the WAG will be forwarded to ISDG and WAG documents will be published on the web.
