On campus access (wireless)
Connection
- The campus wireless network is broadcast as "flexaccess". Your laptop (or wireless enabled device) should pick it up automatically. More than one wireless network may be available.
- select "flexaccess" to connect.
Check you are connected to it by opening your web browser and going to www.gla.ac.uk
To access the internet and protected campus resources your device will need to connect to the campus VPN service (software installation may be required)
This is to allow you to browse securely.
Install VPN and configure your browser.
- Download and install the VPN software . (Students are already registered for VPN)
- Adjust browser proxy settings
Open Internet Explorer*. From the “Tools” menu select “Internet Options”. On the “Connections” tab choose “LAN Settings”. Check the box marked “Use automatic configuration script”**. Type in the following:
http://wwwcache.gla.ac.uk/dialin.pac (note that there is no dot after www) - Connect to VPN using you
GUID and password
Make sure you are connected to flexaccess, then open the Cisco Systems VPN Client (Start->Programs->Cisco Systems VPN Client), which you have just installed. Click “Flexible Access”, then click “Connect”.

**when using Internet elsewhere, you will need to untick this box! It may be convenient to configure one browser for VPN use and another (Firefox, Opera, etc) for use elsewhere
