E-mailing groups of students (The CLASS service)
- The CLASS service allows you to email all students or selected groups of students.
- The underlying lists of students are kept up-to-date automatically.
- You do not need to know the names or matriculation numbers of the students concerned, only how to select the group of students that you want to reach.
- Messages to large numbers of students and messages from certain categories of sender are directed automatically to postmaster@gla.ac.uk for "approval" before being sent out.
How does it work?
You send an email in the format
"class--PATTERN"@gla.ac.uk
where PATTERN is the course code that you want to email
example: for course code 2chb
"class--2CHB"@gla.ac.uk
or to send to more than one course simply put a + symbol between codes eg to 2chb and 3r4f
"class--2CHB+3r4f"@gla.ac.uk
Note: you can use upper or lower case
How do I find the course codes?
- You can obtain the code lists fom the Registration code lists web page.
- Alternatively the current list of 4,000+ course codes and their meanings can be obtained if you send an e-mail message to majordomo@gla.ac.uk with the text
get class codes
