About user accounts

Note: IT Services are in a transition period in relation to User accounts. Simply put we are moving our services to a single user name and password called a GUID. You can find out more about GUIDs and which services are currently using it on the GUID webpage

Novell and Active Directory (AD) logins, which staff use for logging in to SSD workstations, among other things, and Exchange email service are not yet using GUIDS. Consequently you may have the same user name but different passwords for these services. It is the aim of the Identity Management project to unify these usernames and passwords to a single Username and pasword- Your GUID.

If you are unsure as to which username and password you need to use for any of our services please contact the Helpdesk

Each user must only use their own GUID.

It is against University IT Regulations to either allow someone else to use your user-id or to use another person's user-id.
