Costs and Study

The fees for each module are as follows -

Option 1

Test only - £70

If you read the full syllabus and feel you are ready to sit the test now you need only arrange funding and register.  On registration, a date for the test will be allocated to you.  If this is unsuitable, an alternative date can be arranged.

Option 2

Test and self teach material - £110

If you read the full syllabus and feel that you need further study to get you to the level required, you can of course come on any of our scheduled courses free of charge.  You can also supplement your learning with our self teach material and revision exercises.

Again, you would arrange funding, register, receive the self teach material and then inform us when you feel ready to take the test.

Payment options:

Option 1 - Test Only

  1. Pay with your own or departmental money (depending on your circumstances).
  2. Pay using your Learning Works allowance.  Contact UTS (Universal Training Solutions) on 0141 330 5857 (they administer the Learning Works scheme).

Option 2 - Test and self teach material

  1. Pay with your own or departmental money (depending on your circumstances).
  2. Pay using an ILA - if you are over 18 and living in Scotland, you could get up to £200 towards the cost of learning new skills with an individual learning account from ILA Scotland.
    • ILA Scotland is a Scottish Executive scheme which helps you pay for learning that you can do at a time, place, pace and in a way to suit you.  If you earn £18,000 or less, you could get up to £200 per year towards the cost of learning. If you earn more than £18,000 a year, you could get up to £100 a year towards some computer courses - please note, because of the qualification's advanced status an ILA is only available to those who are eligible for the full £200 allowance.
    • You must be ordinarily resident in Scotland to make your application to ILA Scotland.
      • Ordinarily resident means that you live in Scotland year after year by choice, apart from temporary or occasional absences such as holidays or business trips. Living here totally or mainly for the purpose of receiving full-time education does not count as being ordinarily resident. If you are not a UK national, you must be settled in Scotland (as set out in the Immigration Act 1971) immediately before the date on which you made your application.
    • If you have not been living in Scotland because you are employed abroad in the armed forces, you will still be able to apply.
    • Get further information at ILA Scotland homepage
  3. Pay using your Learning Works allowance.  Contact UTS (Universal Training Solutions) on 0141 330 5857 (they administer the Learning Works scheme).

How do I proceed?

If you wish to proceed with either option, in the first instance you should ensure that you have funding in place.

If you intend to apply for an ILA or Learning Works allowance, you should contact UTS (Universal Training Solutions) on 0141 330 5857 (they administer both ILAs and the Learning Works Scheme), who will explain the financial application procedure and on successful application will inform you and IT Services that funding is in place.   At this point you will require to register via this site to receive a test date (Option 1) or your self teach material (Option 2).
