Disposal of IT equipment
Background
Due to the importance of this issue with regard to the Data Protection Act 1998, a Computer Equipment Disposal policy was agreed by the Information Strategy Committee (ISC). University Staff need to be aware that our institution remains ultimately responsible for the disposal of any electronic or electrical equipment.
The University now has to comply with the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 , in addition to our ongoing statutory obligations under the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency.
Who to Contact
IT Services Service, in conjunction with the University Purchasing Office, have reached agreement with:
- CCL (North) Ltd, who offer disposal (including Media), physically destroy memory drives (complete compliance with regard to the Data Protection Act) and make best efforts to recycle.
Charges
At this time, CCL (North) Ltd does set charges.
Feedback
Please email any comments on any aspect of this agreement (e.g.: pricing, uplift, or any other problems) to IT Services Administration.
