Research and Consultancy
What is the Research System?
The Research System holds various types of information such as:
- Research Projects
- Investigators
- Funding Application Details
- Costing
The system helps with the 'pre-award' phase allowing basic details about the research project to be recorded together with application details. The system can also calculate costings based on a combination of salary and non-salary costs. The data within the system can be retrieved using BI-Query.
Who would use the Research System?
The system is currently being used by Research and Enterprise and is now being trialled by certain faculties and departments. Anyone with an involvement in research at the University will eventually be able to use the system including the Principal Investigators and other investigators, the research administrators, Heads of Department and Deans.
How to get access to the system
- Applying for Access
To obtain access to the Research System, complete the application form. If you have any problems accessing the form, please email missec@it.gla.ac.uk or call 330-4436 to arrange for a form to be mailed to you.
Note: that access to the web-based system is restricted to certain people but details will be made available when it is to become more widely available. Eventually it is planned to remove the need for certain people to formally apply , but you will be able to get access to the system on the basis of your role (e.g. Head of Department, Principal Investigator etc.).
What training is available?
For the initial users of the web-based system training will be in small groups and supplied by Research & Enterprise but further details will be made available when it is being rolled out to faculties and departments. In the first instance contact Valerie McCutcheon in R & E for details.
Research BI Query courses are available. For further information visit our course information web pages.
