Professor Vivienne Baumfield, Director of the University of Glasgow International Educational Consultancy

Research interests

Vivienne Baumfield is Professor of Pedagogy, Policy and Innovation in the Faculty of Education, University of Glasgow and works with practitioners and policy makers in education both in the UK and overseas.  She is currently the University of Glasgow’s International Champion for the South and Central Asia regions. Central to her work is the translation of knowledge across a range of educational contexts and her area of specialism is the role of inquiry in the promotion of inclusive pedagogy.  She has led research projects aimed at furthering our understanding of the benefits of collaborative school-university partnerships in the development of teaching as an evidence informed practice.  Professor Baumfield is also an expert in the teaching of critical thinking and has published research in this field.  She has worked with government agencies and professional organisations in the UK and internationally including the Department for Children, Schools and Families, Teacher Development Agency, the Learning and Skills Development Agency, General Teaching Council, National Union of Teachers, Hong Kong Education Manpower Bureau, British Council.
