Parental Leave
An employee with a minimum of 1 year's continuous service is entitled to up to 13 weeks unpaid parental leave to care for a child over a period from the birth of the child until the child's fifth birthday. Separate arrangements are in place for adopted children and children with disabilities. In order to be entitled to the leave an employee must:-
- Be a parent of or have acquired parental responsibility for a child under 5 years old and born after 15th December 1999 or
- Be a parent of or have acquired parental responsibility for a child under 18 years old if the child is disabled or
- Have adopted a child under 18 years of age since 15th December 1999.
