Annual Formal Review
The Performance and Development Review (P&DR) Framework provides an opportunity for an annual formal review and informal interim reviews.
The annual formal review focuses on reviewing the reviewee’s performance over the past year and setting performance and learning & development objectives for the year ahead.
However, any general underperformance against performance expectations should be raised as they occur and should not be raised for the first time during a review meeting.
The P&DR process should not be used as a substitute or forum for any disciplinary action or grievance procedures.
The annual formal review involves the preparation of the following forms:
- self assessment
- summary review
- personal development plan, if appropriate
The self assessment form is prepared by the reviewee in advance of the annual formal review meeting. The summary review form is prepared by the reviewer after the annual formal review meeting. The personal development plan is prepared by the reviewee after the annual formal review meeting.
The reviewer and reviewee should allow a suitable amount of time for the review meeting – between one and two hours depending on the nature of the position.
