Disability equality
The University of Glasgow is committed to disability equality and ensuring all staff, students and visitors have a positive experience of the work, learning, teaching and research environment. We recognise the social model of disability and strive to ensure this model is the basis for our activities and interventions in this area.
To support this aim the University has appointed a senior manager as the Disability Equality Champion, currently Ms Jan Hulme (Academic Secretary). Our Disability Equality Champion promotes and raises awareness around disability equality issues. She also acts as chair of the Disability Equality Group, and feedback to the Equality and Diversity Strategy Committee, the Principal and other senior managers.
The University provides a dedicated service for students with disabilities which can offer a wide range of specialist support, provision and guidance. If you are a student or a potential student of the University, please contact the Student Disability Service to find out more information.
The University welcomed the opportunity to develop a Disability Equality Scheme and Action Plan to ensure we implement legislation across campus.
