FoISA - Operational Statistics for handling Information Requests

FoISA gives the general right of access to all recorded information that is held by the University though some information may be exempt from disclosure by the University if it is considered that a specific and valid exemption applies. The exemptions and other conditions that might apply include:

  • Notice that information is not held - section 17
  • Information otherwise accessible - section 25
  • Prejudice to the effective conduct of public affairs - section 30
  • Commercially sensitive information - section 33
  • Personal information about an individual as defined by the DPA - section 38

The table below summarises the number of Requests for Information, where may in each case incorporate more than one question, that have been received centrally by the Data Protection & Freedom of Information Office and which exemptions from disclosure, where applicable and appropriate, have been applied. An exemption may only apply to some of the Information Requested. The table also summarises the number of Requests for Review received by the University and the number of Appeals to the Scottish Information Commissioner [SIC] concerning the handling by the University of a previous Request for Information.
