The Data Subject
The Data SubjectA living individual, about whom personal data or sensitive personal data may be held, is called the Data Subject in terms of the DPA. A dead individual is outwith the scope of the DPA.
The DPA sets down the rights of the individual with respect to personal & sensitive personal data, and the responsibilities of the holder of that data. The rights including access to copies of information that an organisation, as holder of the data, may hold about the individual.
