Mission Statement
The University of Glasgow Careers Service aims to enhance the employability of the University's students and graduates. It aims to do this through a quality service that:
- Helps students and recent graduates develop and make appropriate use of career management skills, thereby enhancing their ability to identify options most appropriate to them
- Collaborates with academic staff and employers in the development of curricula which provide undergraduates and postgraduates with key skills and self-awareness in order to increase their employability
- Informs the University and the wider community of changes in the graduate employment market
- Markets students and graduates of the university to all types of employers and training providers
Our commitment to you
The University of Glasgow Careers Service follows guidelines laid down by our professional body, AGCAS (Associated Graduate Careers Advisory Services). This guarantees a quality service that is impartial, confidential, friendly, client centered and delivered by professionally trained staff. We work to a Code of Practice that deals with Best Practice in Graduate Recruitment and Equal Opportunities, for further details refer to www.agcas.org.uk.
What you can expect from us
The Careers Service is here to help you make effective contact with academics and students and advise on ways to successfully raise your profile on campus. If you have any questions or need assistance in any way please contact Ian Hawkins, our Employer Services Manager. - Market your opportunities to specific groups of students via our web based vacancy service and our Careers Service Publications.* Vacancy advertising terms and conditions.
- Offer you a menu of advertising options to best suit your needs.*
- Advise and offer you the opportunity to work with students as part of career planning and skills development programmes.
- Provide information and advice on TargetedGrad, a unique recruitment tool for targeting leading Universities within the UK.*
- Offer you the opportunity to be involved in work experience programmes for students of the University such as Club 21.
- Advice and support in arranging interviews and presentations.*

What we can expect from you
- We advertise your opportunities via our web site, and allow you to submit your own vacancies. We will endeavour to publish these within two working days, but reserve the right not to advertise inappropriate vacancies.
- When booking presentations or interviews experience has shown that it is advisable for you to organise these as far in advance as possible due to competition from other employers.
- Keep us informed of your contact details, latest recruitment practices, ideas of skills development and updates on numbers of graduates recruited from this University.
Special Needs and Disabilities
There is wheelchair access from the rear of our building into level 2. This floor contains our seminar room and a wheel chair accessible toilet. However, should our building be unsuitable for your use, please contact us and we will make alternative arrangements to meet with you at a different venue.
How you can help us improve our service
We welcome feedback at all times on any of our services in order to continuously improve the service we provide. Feedback received through our website will be read within 2 working days of receipt and directed to the relevant staff members for action. Where requested, we will aim to provide a response within 2 weeks of receipt.

If you have a complaint, please contact the Director, Jane Weir. This will be dealt with confidentially and normally within 5 working days.
