Entry Requirements

This page describes the entry requirements for:

— School leavers
— Mature students
— Graduate entrants to the two-year LL.B.

Applicants to all LLB programmes (with the exception of the the 2-year fast-track LLB) are required to sit the Law National Admission Test (LNAT).  Full details of the test, including registration, payment and practice papers can be found at the LNAT website.

Applicants can sit the test at any time between 1 September 2008 and 20 January 2009.  It is not necessary for applicants to wait until they have submitted their UCAS application before arranging the test.

Entry Requirements for School Leavers to all LL.B. degree options including Languages and Joint Honours Options

Scottish Highers

AAAAB including English (one sitting).  Applicants who achieve between ABBBB and AAABB in their 5th year may be made a conditional offer for their 6th year.

A Levels

AAB including English or GCSE English Literature and Language

Irish Highers

AAAABB including English

International Baccalaureate

36 points including English

European Baccalaureate

75% including English

HND

Minimum 8 Merits plus SCE Higher English at B or equivalent or AAAB in Integrative Assessment plus SQA Higher English at B or equivalent.

Open University

Two credits

Entry Requirements for Graduate Entrants to the Two-Year LL.B.

— A first degree from a UK University at Honours level or at ordinary level with merit or distinction.

— We are happy to consider applications from graduates with degrees from overseas institutions.

— Applicants to the two-year LL.B will not be required to sit the LNAT test.
