Akbar teaches three options in public international law at the undergraduate level.
His main research interests lie in the area of international law (mainly international law and development, international law of nationalism, and international public order). Sometimes he also tries to moonlight as a legal theorist for reasons he is not entirely sure he can identify. When that happens, he tends to become quite interested in discourse theory, semiotics, and all things post-structuralist. The rest of the time he just sticks to what he likes to believe is law and economics.
Akbar joined the Uzbek bar in 2003. He holds degrees from the University of Worl d Economy and Diplomacy (Uzbekistan), the University of Essex, the University of Hull, and Harvard Law School. He likes green tea and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
