Dr Finlay arrived at the University of Glasgow in November 1998 having graduated LLB(Hons), PhD, Dip.LP., from the University of Edinburgh where he also lectured in 1995/6.

Since arriving in Glasgow he has taught in a number of subject areas, including: Business Law, Criminal Law, History of Scots Law, Legal Systems Obligations, Property Law, Roman Law and Scots Law in the Western Legal Tadition.

Currently he is teaching in the following courses (an asterisk indicates that he is currently course convenor):

History of Scots Law (*)

Property Law

The Roman Law of Property and Obligations

He has been one of the School's Advisers of Studies since 2000.

Research Interests

History of Scots law and of the Scottish legal profession.
