Before joining the Law School, Ruth studied at the University of Edinburgh, the Humboldt University in Berlin and the London School of Economics, where she wrote a PhD on worker representation in Germany and the UK.  She spent a year working as a legal researcher at the Scottish Law Commission, and taught part time at the University of Edinburgh and at the LSE.

Research Interests

UK labour law, particularly collective labour law. Theories and systems of worker representation. UK and German industrial relations history. German labour law; European social law.
