Dr Doris joined the School of Law in 2006, having previously been based in London and Florence. He received his PhD from the European University Institute, where he remains an active member of the EUI European Private Law Forum. Called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 2006, Martin has further acted as a legal consultant to the International Secretariat of Amnesty International and assisted the European Commission's Inter-Services Working Group on EC Contract Law. Fluent in Spanish, Martin is currently engaged with the Spanish Private Law Network of Excellence, REDPEC.
Research Interests
Dr Doris welcomes proposals for postgraduate supervision in the areas of European and US private law, general commercial law and ADR. His current research interests focus in particular on the harmonisation of transnational commercial contract law and the regulation of remote gambling. As a Tutor in Law at the University of Strathclyde Martin is further involved in the LLM Construction Law program and in research exploring the future of mediation/adjudication in the construction industry.
