
This programme is funded by the Scottish Executive to support discussion, knowledge transfer and training in issues of environmental management and sustainability between staff and students at the University of Glasgow, UK, University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, North West University, South Africa, Bunda College, Malawi, and The National University of Rwanda.
The programme has been established with the following aims:-
- To develop and enhance capacity in the field of better environmental management and sustainable development within each of the three African partner countries, through the exchange of knowledge and skills, by drawing on the available expertise and experience of each of the African partner institutions and the University of Glasgow.
- To promote an interdisciplinary approach to environmental management and sustainable development, by drawing on a range of participants from varying academic backgrounds, including environmental scientists, ecologists, geographers, civil engineers, environmental chemists, gender studies specialists, and development theorists and practitioners.
- To promote inter-African, south-south dialogue through exchanging experiences and expertise in the field of environmental management and sustainable development between the African partners, facilitated by the Glasgow partner.
