Margaret Curran MSP talked about her experiences as an undergraduate in the department and her involvement in politics at the university, before moving on to discuss her career in politics since graduating. She focused on the ways in which the subjects she had studied had informed her political interests and how her academic skills had helped in researching and understanding policy issues, as well as advising students on potential career paths.

Martin Balkeen, an Economic and Social History graduate now working with Strathclyde Police Force, talked about his career development since leaving university. He discussed how elements of his degree are important in his current job as a police officer, especially the research and analytical skills he learnt.

David Easton from Royal Commission on Historical Monuments talked about his experiences in using his degree in Economic and Social History and Geography in developing his career and his everyday working life.
