How to apply?

Entry requirements

The following entry requirements apply to the programmes listed below:

  • MSc in Russian, Central and East European Studies;
  • International Masters in Russian, Central and East European Studies;
  • MRes in Russian, Central and East European Studies;
  • MLitt;
  • PhD.

All applicants for postgraduate study must have 2.1 Honours degree or equivalent in a relevant social sciences or humanities subject and must provide evidence of proficiency in English in cases where English is not the student's native language.

For applicants whose first language is not English, the University sets a minimum English Language proficiency level: 

  • IELTS 6.5 (with no subtest less than 6);
  • TOEFL 237 in the computer-based test (577 in the paper-based test). TOEFL CBT tests also require a TWE (Test of Written English also known as Essay Rating) of at least 4.5;
  • iBT TOEFL 92 (with no less than 20 in any skill);
  • Cambridge Advanced (B minimum) and Cambridge Proficiency (C minimum);
  • 70% in CISCE or CBSE Class XII English may be accepted in place of IELTS.

All test reports must be no more than 2 years old.
