Welcome to the Department of Central and East European Studies (CEES) at the University of Glasgow.

The Study of Central and Eastern Europe has a long tradition at Glasgow University. For over 50 years CEES has covered developments in communist and post communist societies.

The Department is recognised as one of the world's leading centres for research and teaching in its field. In the most recent UK Research Assessment Exercise the department was awarded the highest possible (5*) rating.

Our courses offer an opportunity to study a variety of rewarding and fascinating topics in a fast changing region. The Department prides itself on offering an innovative and student-centred place of learning, with staff teaching and providing supervision on their own individual areas and countries of expertise.
