Wellcome Trust four year PhD programme
Two groups in the Division (Dr. Adam West and Dr. Katherine West) participate in the Wellcome Trust four year PhD programme “The Molecular Functions in Disease”. This fully funded scheme starts with an intensive first year of training in research techniques and theory, and three research placements, prior to a 3-year PhD research project. Home and overseas students are eligible. More information can be found here
MRes in Molecular Medicine
The Division runs a one year Masters by Research course in Molecular Medicine that is designed to prepare students for a career in research. Students do two 18-week research projects in labs within the Division, and also participate in regular tutorials to develop their transferable skills in areas such as critical analysis, project design and planning, scientific writing and oral presentation. Further details can be found here
MSc by research
Students wishing to develop their research skills without committing to a three year PhD can also study for an MSc by research. This involves a one year research project based in a single lab. Training in transferable skills is provided by the Graduate School Research Training Programme.
Students wishing to pursue a Masters by Research on a specific research area should contact the group leader in the first instance.
