Centre for Oncology and Applied Pharmacology

Head of COAP:  Professor Jim Cassidy

COAP consists of 3 lab based CRUK funded programs and the clinical trials unit.  The program leads are JC, RB and NK.  In addition the centre is part of the Glasgow Experimental Cancer Centre with a particular emphasis being on patient sample collection and processing to GLP standards to support early and translational clinical studies. This is achieved through the Analytical Services Unit based in our garsube labs. The centre has very strong links with BICR with several ongoing collaboartive projects  and co-supervised clinical fellows.  The clinical trials unit and its associated Clinical research unit are housed in the new state of the art beatson Oncology centre on the Gartnavel campus. This is the hub for the West of Scotland Cancer Research network  and alos a partner in the Cancer Clinical trials unit for Scotland ( CACTUS). At the moment some 15% of patients enter clinical trials and we have an extensive portfolio of early and late stage clinical trials in recruitment.
