History

Forensic Medicine and Science was established in 1839 and is the second oldest establishment in the United Kingdom and one of the largest in Europe.

Many famous names have been associated with forensic medicine in Glasgow but probably the most well known are those of the two Glaisters, John Glaister, Senior, who was Professor of Forensic Medicine at the University of Glasgow between 1898-1931, and John Glaister, Junior who retired as Professor of Forensic Medicine in 1962.
