Business School
The Centre for Business History in Scotland, through the Department of Economic and Social History, is closely involved in the life of the University of Glasgow Business School. This has administrative, research and teaching dimensions.
The Director of the Centre and the Centre associates based in the Department of Economic and Social History provide major input to postgraduate teaching in the Glasgow University Business School by offering a research-led stream in the MSc Management course. Students on the MSc Management (International Business) programme take three core courses together with students in other streams between October and December. The stream's core course, "The development of international business", is offered in January, while students in the stream go on to choose three electives, a selection of which is offered between February and May. Normally it is expected that these will include
- Managing International Technology Transfer
- The Business Environment in China
- The European Business Environment
- American Business and Management in International Contextexcising the words
Other relevant electives may occasionally be offered.
Students on the stream complete their degrees over the summer by doing a project. For the MSc International Business this normally involves constructing a case study of management practice based on materials from Glasgow University's excellent collection of business archives.
More information on the stream and the MSc Management degree programme may be found here.
